The young man stood at the front of the church with the minister. The music was playing as the bride-to-be walked down the aisle. They faced the minister and repeated the appropriate words. The music resumed and they walked, arm in arm, back down the aisle. They came unmarried and they left unmarried. How is that possible? I am sure you figured it out; it was the wedding rehearsal.
Many people do the same thing every Sunday. They go to church, say the right words, sing the hymns but leave the church the same way they came, unsaved. Just going to church and doing church activities does not make you a Christian, any more than standing in a garage makes you a Honda.
Likewise, many have gone through a wedding ceremony but a ceremony does not make a marriage. In both church and marriage, what is required is commitment. Relationships not rituals. Marriage is not a contract but a covenant. Many have made decision for Christ but there is no dedication. They made a choice but no commitment.
"Take steps each day to be sure your life expresses commitment to Jesus." --Charles Stanley
