Are You Contagious?

The leaves are turning and the morning air is crisp that can only mean one thing: Flu/Cold season is around the corner! We all should be thinking about getting our flu shots. We need to stock up on cough drops, tissues, and cold/flu remedies. If we come in close contact with someone we suspect is showing signs of being sick, we keep our distance. Why? They maybe contagious!

Did you know that the Bible wants you to be contagious? [Not with the flu bug] It also tells us to 'hang out' with contagious people! We are influenced by the people we associate with. Proverbs 13: 20 - "He that is walking with wise persons will become wise..." That is why your parents were so particular who your friends were. Here are just a few Bible verses about close friendships:

• Don’t be spending your time with someone who’s angry or hot tempered or you may become like that yourself. (Proverbs 22:24)
•  Don’t spend time with those who are foolish or eventually you won’t be able to discern knowledge. (Proverbs 14:7)

 It is no secret that we are ALL contagious, that is we are influenced by those around us. We are influencing people for good or evil.  Jesus Christ was probably the most 'contagious' person that ever lived! Everyone (except the self-righteous) was attracted to Jesus. We should be so contagious that people would be drawn to the Christ we serve.
