Lost At Christmas?

One of the biggest challenges that men face is admitting when they are lost. I cannot tell you how many time I have been "directionally challenged." But if you do not know why we celebrate Christmas, all the festivities are pointless. If you do not know the purpose of Christmas, you too are lost.

Quite simply put Jesus came because people were lost without God. To be spiritually lost means to be separated from God, disconnected and out of whack.Without Jesus, every person in the world is lost - no matter how much power, wealth, or fame they have. Without God, we have lost:

  • Our direction. Without Him, we have little idea of where and what we should do in life.
  • His protection. The reason so many people are stressed is they realize they are on own their own. They have no sense of His presence or protection.
  • Our potential. We'll never half of the gifts and talents we have if we are not in a relationship with Him
  • Our happiness. We can everything that the world offers but without God we will never have true joy.
  • Our home in Heaven. God allows us to rebel here on earth but there is no rebellion in Heaven.

But the Good News is that no one who is lost has lost one once of value to God. Even if you do not have a relationship with God, you have tremendous value to God. Lostness implies value. Whatever it costs to recover something shows how valuable that item is. You are so valuable to God that :

"God loved the world so much that he gave his one and only Son so that whoever believes in him may not be lost, but have eternal life." John 3:16 NCV

That is reason to celebrate tomorrow.
