What Did You Say?

Words; we use them everyday. One study tells us that men uses about 7,000 words per day, while women. {Not criticizing; women are more verbal that's all.} Words are powerful  Proverbs 18:21 and yet we are so careless how we speak. Would it change the way you live or speak if you knew that every word from you mouth and every thought would be examined by God? Psalm 19:14

Jesus said in Matthew 12:36 t "And I tell you this, you must give an account on judgment day for every idle word you speak." I was amazed when I discovered how much of Scripture is addressed to Christ-followers about our speech. I guess God did not not address the issue of how we speak to non-believers because He expected them to speak that way. Therefore, He must expect more out of His people. Amen?
  • Set a guard over my mouth, Lord keep watch over the door of my lips. Ps. 141:3
  • ...Be gracious in your speech. The goal is to bring out the best in others in a conversation, not put them down, not cut them out. Col. 4:6 The Message
  • Therefore encourage one another with these words. 1 Thess. 4:1
  • Ready for this one! The more you talk, the more likely you are to sin. If you are wise, you will keep quiet. Proverbs 10:19 GNT
As you begin each day, make a conscience commitment to God that you'll allow Him to guide you in what you say.  Remember: "Be sure your words are sweet, you may have to eat them."
