Everyone has something they are afraid of. You maybe afraid of speaking in public, big dogs, fear of losing your health, fear of rejection, etc.
But there is one fear that most of us have in common: the fear of failure. I believe this fear is one of the reasons Christians do not witness. They are afraid of failure (rejection.) I remember reading a question that is very revealing: "What would you do today that you aren't knowing if you knew you could not fail?" Fear of failure keeps us from moving forward in faith. And when then happens, fear has won.
Have you ever thought of the "failures" in the Bible?
- Moses failed to answer the call of God to deliver the children of Israel.
- Peter failed to stand up for the Lord when confronted by a small girl
- David failed and feel into sexual sin with Bathsheba
- Jesus even "failed" to live up to the expectations of the people
