There is no question that we live at a hectic pace! It seems we need to be at two places at the same time. My grandchildren have many commitments: Karate practice, harp practice, ballet lessons, swim meets, church, therapy, etc. It usually takes both parents to keep up with the all the demands.
What is this doing to our spiritual lives? Publishers have come out with a "one minute bible" for people to get their 'daily dose' of the Word. Another innovation is an app called the "2- minute pastor" for the pastor on the run. The average time a pastor prays is twelve minutes. We have so much clamoring for our attention. Much of what we do we classify as urgent but is it really important?
Remember the story of Mary and Martha? Martha was scurrying around the kitchen preparing a meal for Jesus and his discples, while Mary was sitting at the feet of Jesus. There was nothing wrong with cooking but Jesus said, she had chosen what was better. (Luke 10:42)
Each day we have the same choice. Make time for the things we "need"" to do or spend time with GOD.
