In the spiritual realm, man has once again tried to introduce a new math. When a person is confronted with the Gospel, they think all they have to do is add Jesus to their life. To them it is like adding a rider to an insurance policy or adding an option to your new car. They do not believe they have to change their lives. Jesus is just one more thing to consider in their lives. Of course, that is far from what the Bible teaches. Matthew 16:24
God's math is first about subtracting BEFORE you add Christ to your life. When you ask Jesus to forgive you of your sins, we are to remove (subtract) those things that separated us from God in the first place. Jesus came not to make you a better person but to transform you life into a new person. "This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life." 2 Cor. 5:17 If you are continuing in your old life style and there has been no change, you need to examine yourself. "Test yourselves and find out if you really are true to your faith. If you pass the test, you will discover that Christ is living in you. But if Christ isn’t living in you, you have failed." 2 Cor. 13:5 (CEV)
Which "math" are you using in your spiritual journey?
