Many years ago people used the “barter
system” to conduct business. This was a system where people
exchanged goods or services instead of using money. The barter
system worked well as long as the items were of equal value.
Mark 8:37
asks the question, “Or what can anyone give in exchange for
their soul?” The implication is clear; there is nothing more
valuable than a man's soul. And yet people are willing to exchange
eternal life for things of lesser value: popularity, pleasure,
wealth, success and the list goes on. The tragedy is most people are
not even aware they are making choices daily that effect their
eternal destiny.
Have you exchanged your soul for
something of this earth?
