Your Enemy - Part Three

As we continue our understanding of our enemy, we must realize that one of Satan's main tactics is lying. Jesus said in John 8:44 that there is "no truth in him." The precursor to the human race's first sin was Satan casting doubt (lying) to Eve concerning the goodness of God. The Bible tells us that he tries to deceive us by pretending to be a messenger from God.  2 Cor. 11:14 That is why it is so important to examine the thoughts that just "pop" into our heads. It amazes me that many Christ-followers walk around with their brains in neutral!

Satan will place a thought in your mind and if think it over, soon you  will act on that lie without considering where that thought originated. Have you ever asked yourself "Where did that thought come from?" 2 Cor. 10:5 admonishes us to "...take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ. [emphasis mine] It is literally a battle for your mind.

Remember if you "Sow a thought and you reap an action; sow an act and you reap a habit; sow a habit and you reap a character; sow a character and you reap a destiny." [Ralph Waldo Emerson]

The Message Translation reminds us to "...put your mind in gear..." 1 Peter 1:13 As you go through your day, monitor your thoughts and make sure that your enemy has not planted anything in your mind.
