The Center

During our recent revival our evangelist brought out a truth that I had never considered before. He pointed out that God placed man in a perfect environment and basically told them to enjoy their beautiful home. Everything had been provided for them. The only prohibition was they could not eat of the fruit of the tree of knowledge of good and evil.

Now comes the interesting part: the location of the tree. God had placed the tree right in the middle of the Garden. Genesis 3:3 I could not help but wonder why God would put the tree where it would be so accessible. I would be like a mother putting freshly baked brownies in the middle of the kitchen table and telling her children not  to eat them. If I were God [be thankful I'm not] I would have placed the tree of the "backside" of the Garden where it would not be so obvious.

But God purposely placed the tree in the center and in doing so He gave mankind a choice. The choice being who (or what) would be the center of our lives. I choosing the tree they were basically saying, "God will no longer be the center of our lives. Instead, I choose self to be central." And that was the downfall of mankind.

Every day we must choose who is going to be the center of our lives. Matthew 6:33 Colossians 1:18  Who IS the center of your life?
