Connecting?

When I graduated from High School I never dreamed of the vast technology in the area of communications. Most of us can remember waiting days for a letter to arrive {snail mail}. Now in an instant we can communicate with someone thousands of miles away. Just this week I was sitting in church when I got a message on my smart phone. Was it from my brother who lives in Florida? Was it from my friend who lives in Kentucky? No, it was someone in the congregation sitting across the sanctuary.
While emails, tweets, texting, Facebook, etc. are so useful, I wonder if we are missing building personal relationships. I cannot imagine Jesus emailing the Sermon on the Mount to His disciples. Throughout the New Testament we are encouraged to pour our lives into the lives of other Christ-followers and to build each other up in the faith.
I remember years ago when I would meet a new believer for breakfast just to answer questions, encourage, and help assimilate them into the Body of Christ. Nothing is more effective as a personal contact. Remember, that can be no impact without contact! Does that mean I will no longer email or text people? Of course not, God wants us to use every resource to advance His Kingdom.

But don’t forget that nothing can replace the personal contact.
