God's Bottom Line

At this time of year it is only natural to look back at the past year and reflect. We look at the goals we made at the beginning of the new year and reevaluate how well we did. Companies look do the same, they look at their profits and losses, inventory, and they examine if they reached their goals for that year. They call this 'the bottom line.'

In everyday speech, it refers to the core of what someone is saying. When it comes to business, the bottom line is something that business owners, investors and bankers need to understand. People want to know what the profit is, because of there is no profit, there is no reason to be in business.

But did you know that God has a 'bottom line?' It is found in Ecclesiastes 12:13 - "Now all has been heard; here is the conclusion of the matter: Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the duty of all mankind."  We might say, 'the conclusion of the matter..." is God's bottom line.

God has an amazing way of making life simple: Fear God and obey Him.
  • "Fear God" - love Him with all your being.
  • "Obey Him" - Our love for God is proved by our obedience.
What a great New Year's resolution!
